With a whole lot of work getting the engines back online, the generator working, new bilge pump and a few tons more, it was finally time to take it out for a test run. Found some faults (throttle acting up, not reaching max rpm, didn’t try the wifi etc) but all in all a massive…
Lights out
Added some colored LEDs outside. The sole overhead lights weren’t cutting it, at all, for any sort of coziness out back by the bbq. Messy cockpit for sure.
WiFi on the water
Preparing for a testrun on the water. How well does the WiFi antenna stack up on the bay? Will find out soon.
On a lighter note
Obviously, there’s something sexy about Butt connectors. Celebrating the small things in life I installed 12v colored LED light. To get sexy with it here’s the mood lightning taken to the xxxtreme.
Hamsterproofing a boat
Pristine chance to hamster-proof the kitchen area when the fridge was out. We suspect that one time Gunther got out (and we found him outside(!) in the early morning) he had ventured through the hull passing through the kitchen and fought pass all crazy cables. I really have no idea, but I assume the huge gaps under the…
This is not a drill
Finally got around to finish what I started: setting up a 2.4ghz radio/antenna for WiFi mooching/onboard. And boy was there much to do. I didn’t even document half the process because it was just so frustrating. Like running the cable through the tiny space next to the hull. Fiberglass, spikes, electricity, so on. This is…
Bright ideas
Tried old new lights before which didn’t work. Got the wrong base for the lamp. Additionally, as it turns out, Hue lights won’t work on 12v so that whole idea is now scrapped. Instead of plopping out / replacing the sockets and getting new bulbs I decided to go another route. Different housing, different (and weird,…
Stabfest & Friends
While defrosting our ac/dc fridge Becky stabbed its very pressurized evaporator with a fork. The thing let out a cold fart, or idk a dying breath, and croaked right in front of our eyes. It took all the food with it. Resealing it didn’t work. Maybe high pressure sealant would? I’m just not feeling it….
The rugged look
The neighbor overheard me talking about possibly adding a rug. So he dumped an unused old outdoor rug on me. Just enough to cover most of the outdoor seating, which is good. Cover too much and it’d be a treehouse. It wasn’t enough rug to also cover the captains area but Home Depot had the exact…
Wax on
Want to practice karate? Come wax my boat. Takes forever. I work smart, naturally, in that I want to take meaningful shortcuts. 15$ worth of a used buffing tool from the local sea captain/pirate store does the job.
Poor motor skills
Damn things haven’t started since we bought it. Just want to get this thing working so I could finally enjoy it out on the bay. Having a ton of electrical problems. Got new batteries. Skipping the 12 + 6-6 array and just going for single 12 + 12v. Should be enough power to start the engines. Will…
BBQ plans
Can’t grill enough. Day or night, doesn’t matter. Skewers are a favorite as of late. Anything that go on a stick. Cheap cuts of meat turns out great. Love it.
