Part of buying a boat is having it looked at for 500$, after a fee of 450$ to take it out of the water (cost varies). If you take it out and find some surprises that weren’t in the description, and decide that it’s not worth it, you’ve only lost about a grand for looking around and showing interest. All part of the process I’m told.
